OPQG Programs

Monthly speakers & topics

Programs

All programs are conducted at our monthly day and night meetings. In keeping with our guild’s mission statement, we strive to offer programs that feature local and national guest speakers. Our specialty groups within the guild offer interesting programs, too.  Corresponding workshops are held on Wednesdays following monthly meetings whenever possible. We are currently booking our future speakers and are looking forward to upcoming exciting and interesting programs.

All monthly programs are free to OPQG members.

All professionally taught workshops require a fee, which can be paid by both members and nonmembers. Participation fees vary by speaker; some workshops also require the purchase of a pattern or other supplies (as specified by the teacher). If you are interested in a specific teacher, please go to Programs-Upcoming in the website’s NEWS section.

Please contact Kim Forman, OPQG program chair, for information about monthly programs or workshops.

FRIDAY, MAY 22nd WORKSHOP at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm: Preventative Sewing Machine Maintenance 9:30-12:30 Cost: $0

Shawn Williams of Shawn’s Sewing Center in Springfield will lead a hands-on workshop focused on caring for your sewing machine. Learn simple preventative maintenance steps that will keep it running smoothly and stitching beautifully. Shawn will walk you through proper cleaning, basic upkeep, and tips to extend the life of your machine—so you can spend more time quilting and less time troubleshooting! Sign up with Kim Forman formancreative@gmail.com. We will need ONE of each make of sewing machine for those attending (ie. 1 Bernina, 1 Baby Lock, 1 Husqvarna, etc. Not every Bernina owner needs to bring their machine.)

Our Small Group Sampler at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm

Be introduced to the many Small Groups that make up the Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Each group will share a brief overview of their activities, projects, and the kind of fellowship they enjoy together. Whether you’re a new member or have been part of the guild for years, this is a great way to learn more about the groups within OPQG. You may even discover a new group you’d like to visit or join. Come see how each group is a unique piece in the OPQG patchwork!
