Golden Thimble Award

Annual award for outstanding participation

The Golden Thimble Award is an annual award voted on by the membership and given by the guild to recognize a member who has given extraordinary service during the last fiscal year.

Our 2024 Golden Thimble Award recipient is Barbara Harmon!

Barbara said, “I have been quilting since my teenage years, starting with small projects. My late mother was an expert at sewing and hand quilting. I sat at her machine for hours, watching her piece fabric from our worn-out dresses and my dad’s shirts. After retirement, we moved to Springfield to live near our daughter. I looked forward to joining the guild and learning more about quilting. That was a little over four years ago, and I’m still making new friends and learning different techniques of design and quilting. I’m honored to have been chosen as the 2024 Golden Thimble Award recipient. I will try to help do my part in keeping our guild serving a need of our community.”

Barbara’s devotion to OPQG and our Community Quilts group is genuinely appreciated, and we’re so happy she’s the 2024 award recipient.
