English Paper Piecing
Intricate hand piecing—amazing results
Hand piecing with truly beautiful results!
English Paper Piecing is a way to assemble intricate quilt pieces and is used by many quilters. This method of stabilizing fabric around a heavy paper shape before sewing the pieces together enables a quilter to create intricate and precise pieced designs—not otherwise easily created. It provides excellent accuracy and precision piecing. English Paper Piecing originated in England and was called Mosaic or honeycomb patchwork.
English Paper Piecing is a pure hand-sewing method used in traditional patchwork and quilting. Paper pieces are then removed after the shapes are sewn in on all sides. These pieces can then be reused for another project. Foundation Paper Piecing, on the other hand, is generally done by sewing machine.
