Cherrywood Fabrics Presents the Cherrywood Challenge

Special Traveling Exhibit—Monarch

Cherrywood Fabrics, 2024 Special Exhibit

THE CHALLENGE:

The iconic Monarch butterfly is in trouble. In the summer of 2022, it was put on the Endangered List. Let’s change that. Not only can you plant the seeds of milkweed, you can plant the seeds of creativity. Could you do it with just eight colors? We encouraged participants to push themselves creatively and think outside the box.

Participants used only EIGHT COLORS to create an original 20-inch square quilted artwork. No other colors of fabric were allowed. The only way to add more colors is with thread, paint, pencil, ink, beads, etc.

The photos below are a few of the quilts you’ll see in the Cherrywood Challenge Milkweed exhibit at our show.

In addition to the Cherrywood Exhibit, we’re thrilled to bring you an exhibit by the Bloomington Normal Modern Quilt Group (BNMQG). This traveling exhibit is a collection of 20″ x 20″ quilts created by members of BNMQG. It will be on the south wall of the exhibit hall, near the Cherrywood exhibit. We’re excited to bring these two exciting exhibits to the OPQG Show.
