Ronnie Elmore presents “Log Cabin Tales,” a free one-hour lecture on log cabin quilts, on September 29, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the east lecture hall

“This trunk show will include a brief history of the origin and the many changes of log cabin quilts over the years, a brief description of why I only piece log cabin quilts, and the many variations possible with the modern log cabin block. The quilts I have pieced have included traditional log cabin blocks, court house step blocks, pineapple log cabin blocks, circular blocks, and crazy blocks.  I will show many large log cabin quilts that I have pieced and had them quilted by professional quilters. All one has to know is how to make ¼-inch straight seams. Even log cabin blocks can be curved using only straight ¼-inch seams. I have had quilts juried into shows in Paducah, Kentucky; Des Moines, Iowa; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and other shows in Lincoln, Nebraska; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Attendees of this lecture will be challenged to make log cabin quilts using their own creativity.” —Ronnie Elmore
