On Tuesday, June 21, 2021, Theresa Ward of Always Quilts presented programs during both our daytime and evening meetings. Her presentation and truck show was different for each meeting. The first program, String Quilts, consisted of a huge collection of amazing scrappy string quilts. Attendees learned about different foundations for the scraps and ways to cut and assemble to create amazing scrap quilts. The goal with string scrappy quilts is to use up fabric on hand. Many people said it was one of the best presentations they had seen.
The evening meeting included a trunk show of quilts from Ward’s book, Sew, Slice, Spin & Sash—Quick and Easy Strip Pieced Quilts.
On Wednesday, Ward taught a workshop on creating scrappy strip quilts using her foundation (sew-in interfacing) method to create a shadowbox quilt. The first four photos are from Wednesday’s class, the fifth photo is the quilt top completed by Kathy Carr after taking the class/ The subsequent photos in the gallery below are from the trunk show presentations at both meetings. Enjoy!
