Below are a few pictures from the Thread Catcher class taught by Judi Reed. Judy is one of our excellent and creative guild instructors. There were 10 guild members who attended the thread catcher class. Everyone had a good time making the thread catchers for the upcoming Quilter’s Bazaar and several people also made one for themselves. Judi said, “I enjoyed teaching and showing/sharing my addiction. It’s so nice that classes have begun again after being on hiatus during 2020.” Judy said she found the pattern on Pinterest.
So what is a thread catcher? It’s basically a super cute trash can with a weighted pin cushion on top. These hang nicely by your sewing machine and come in very handy when it comes to keeping little pieces of thread and fabric contained. Plus, you can quickly access your pins while sewing too. It’s a little fabric trash can or receptacle of sorts that hangs on your sewing table or desk for you to discard snipped bits of thread and fabric scraps. It stays in place from the weighted pin cushion part that sits on the desk as the little bin hangs down. It’s got a plastic hoop inside to keep the top open. It’s not only a pretty addition to your workspace but oh-so-practical, too!
