FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPRINGFIELD, MO, USA— Marcia Clark, board chair of Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild, announces a first-of-its-kind, Quilter’s Bazaar. The event will take place at the OPQG facility located at 2738 S Campbell Ave., Springfield, Mo, 65807, in the Village Shopping Center, on September 25-26, 2020, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.
“This is a new fundraising event for the guild since our large quilt show had to be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns,” Clark said. “We normally host a large, three-day quilt show every two years which provides operating funds for the all-volunteer nonprofit organization,” she added.
This event will be a much smaller scale than our large quilt show, more like a craft show with hundreds of unique, handmade items for sale created and donated by guild members. The two-day Quilter’s Bazaar will include items including but not limited to baby, lap and large quilts, quilted home décor items, patriotic, Halloween and Christmas items, kitchen items, tote bags, hundreds of good-quality quilting books and magazines, precut fabric, sewing notions and more.
Additionally, raffle tickets for a museum-quality 100” x 100” quilt professionally appraised for $3,500, and a pristine, vintage Singer Featherweight 221 sewing machine that includes accessories and a custom sewing table will be available for sale. Tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. Tickets can also be purchased on the guild website, ozarkpiecemakers.com
With the cancellation of the quilt show, the guild’s major fundraiser, the board also authorized the creation of a new e-commerce website to expand fundraising efforts. Dianne Davis, of Dianne Davis Consulting in Nixa, Mo., created new the new website and also serves on the guild’s board of directors as the fundraising coordinator. “I’m very excited to be able to offer the guild new ideas and new ways to raise funds,” Davis said. “The new online store is supported by the guild’s Facebook, Instagram and Google Business pages along with earning a new $10,000 per month Google Ads Grant. The online store opened in mid-July. We’re now advertising and selling quilts, fabric, home décor items and more to a much wider, national audience.”
