October ’21 Program

October 26–27, 2021

Kelly Cline from Lawrence, Kans.

Kelly’s Website KellyClineQuilting.com
Topic—Quilting Vintage lecture and trunk show presented at both the morning and evening meetings

Kelly’s passion is turning ordinary antique linens and quilts into heirloom pieces, completely on a long arm machine. She’ll have a show-and-tell and talk about this wonderful twist on quilting that connects our past and present. She will have a trunk show with a large number of quilts.

Workshop at Guild on Wednesday, October 27th: QUILTING VINTAGE! ON A DOMESTIC MACHINE Full-Day workshop—participants must have a domestic machine capable of using a walking foot and a ruler foot.

This is a class for collage with vintage linens, hankies and embroideries, all sewn and finished on your domestic machine. We will begin with the construction of a small collage and then move toward quilting this piece on your sit-down sewing machine. After a lunch break, I will teach free motion quilting and ruler work on your domestic machine.

Supply List—Sewing machine with walking foot AND quilting foot (must have feed dogs that drop), basic sewing supplies, rotary cutter and mat, blue water-soluble pen. Bring a variety of vintage linens, quilt pieces, hankies, backing fabrics (cotton, satin, silk), and a piece of batting (about 25″ square). Also, here’s a link to her website post, How To Make a Pillow From Vintage Linens. This will give a sense of the project we will be doing and the materials needed. Kelly will also bring extra linens for student use at a nominal cost. A detailed supply list will be available closer to the date of the workshop

An additional Workshop will be held at Shawn’s Sewing Center, 1301 E. Battlefield Rd., Springfield, Mo, 65804, on Thursday, October 28th. Topic to be determined.
