Amber Plemones, owner of Sew Simple Quilt Shoppe in Ozark will teach the One Block Wonder quilt technique during a two-day workshop to be held on Wednesday, April 24th and Thursday, April 25th. The workshop begins at 9:30 am each dat so please arrive by 9:00 am to get your work area set up and ready to begin. The second day is not mandatory but we encourage everyone who attends the first day to attend the second day.

A book about the One Block Wonder technique can be purchased from Amber during the workshop or before the event.

Each workshop participant will need to bring the following to the class.

  • At least four yards of printed fabric that has a 24” repeat. Please ensure there are at least six motifs per yard of fabric.

  • Sharp rotary cutter and mat (the guild mats can be used but if you bring your own mat you may not have to wait in line)

  • Pins—flat heads are preferred

  • The book, One Block Wonder by authors Rosenthal and Miller

  • 24-inch acrylic ruler

  • Sewing machine, thread, and other notions you normally have in a workshop sewing kit
  • 60-degree equilateral triangle acrylic template with points at each end (NOT flat, cut-off ends)

Participants may visit Amber at Sew Simple after the workshop with any additional questions related to creating the One Block Wonder quilt.

The photo below is a quilt that was made by three OPQG members using the leftover blocks from each of their one block wonder quilt projects. This photo is to give you an idea of what  kaleidoscope blocks look like after they’re assembled. The quilt pictured below was donated to OPQG’s Community Quilts initiative.
